So, it’s bye bye Berg? Well done Venky’s. Don’t get me wrong, Berg wasn’t the right man for the job, but he was certainly on a hiding to nothing.
The simple facts are Berg took over a squad any sane person can see isn’t fit for purpose. This was a squad he didn’t even build, yet Berg’s paid the price for being unable to turn a pig’s ear into a silk purse. Yet no-one should be surprised it hasn’t worked out, because where Rovers are right now is the result of …

Two draws and a defeat isn’t the best start a new manager could make at a club, but in the case of Henning Berg and Rovers it’s not that big a surprise. A club stripped of any semblance of common sense over the past couple of years, the Rovers job was always going to be a difficult one for whoever took over. Berg probably learned a lot from his opening defeat at Crystal Palace, as the two subsequent performances against Huddersfield and Birmingham have been much improved. Rovers will need …

So it’s Henning Berg? After almost five weeks of having everyone and his dog linked to the Rovers managerial vacancy, Berg’s the man we’ve seemingly settled on.
There was never going to be an appointment who suited everyone. Holloway, Solskjaer, Redknapp, Flitcroft and my dearly departed Grandma have all been touted and while they all had merit (my Gran knew her stuff), there’s also things you could argue against appointing them (such as being dead).
Berg falls into the same category. On the plus side he’s young, no doubt ambitious and can walk into …

“This is for all fans – I am deeply saddened and shocked by the persecution of former players whose names have been linked as potential managers of this club. It is a culture shock for me as everywhere in the world, former players are lauded for their contributions and achievements. On the choice of a new manager, it is now time for contemplation as due process is carried out” – Shebby Singh, October 2012.
Persecution of former players linked as potential managers? Really? What a load of complete and utter claptrap. …

There’s been much written in the last week about Steve Kean’s departure from Ewood Park. You’ll be pleased to know there’s none of that here. He’s gone. Goodbye, good riddance and thanks for absolutely nothing.
So, where do we go from here? Firstly, it’s important to remember we’ve still got the same owners. They didn’t swing the axe – in fact, they were “disappointed” Kean left. But they’ve an opportunity now to start repairing the damage they’ve done in the last couple of years. Appoint the right man, let him get on with …

“Shebby, it’s Derek Shaw. I’ve not been able to sack Steve because his phone’s switched off. It won’t happen now, because Mrs Kean’s rung Mrs Desai in floods of tears and she’s changed her mind. Better luck next time.” Under normal circumstances you’d be hard pressed to believe that could happen in professional football – but at Blackburn Rovers? Anything’s possible.
Just when everyone thought Kean was finally on his way out, the rug gets pulled yet again. So where do we go from here? Protests, demonstrations, marches, banners, complaining to …

Twitter. A place where anyone who can string 140 characters together is given a platform to voice their opinion. It’s also home to some of the most ill-informed drivel you’ll ever have the displeasure of reading. After Rovers fell to their first defeat of the season to Middlesbrough, the “let’s blame the fans” brigade were out in force once again, so now seems as good a time as any to fire back with a few responses.
“Steve Kean is a credit to football, whilst he’s not a fantastic manager he’s done brilliantly …

It’s amazing how quickly people are willing to forgive and forget. Perhaps in the case of Venky’s and Steve Kean it’s more forgetting than forgiving, but still no less amazing. Two wins, two draws and the happy clapper brigade are out in force, telling those of a less sunny disposition to lighten up a bit. It’s almost as if the last 18 months never happened. So, in best Rafa Benitez fashion, let’s look at the facts.
It’s been well documented that Venky’s comedy ownership, coupled with Steve Kean’s less than adequate management …

Supporting your football team is like being married. Some days are great, others just average and there’s those that make you want to scream. When it all finally goes pear-shaped you’re left with an empty, couldn’t really care less kind of feeling. Which is where a lot of people are up to with Rovers right now.
I still remember coming back from 2-0 down to win 5-2 at home to Plymouth back in 1974/75 with an unhealthy level of fondness. Howard Kendall leading us to promotion in 1980, David Speedie’s hat-trick …

Two games, four points & Rovers are in the top four already. Who said Kean & Venky’s don’t know what they’re doing? At least 10000 people if last night’s attendance is anything to go by – that’s who.
It’s fair to say a trip to Ipswich & Hull at home aren’t the two most difficult games the Championship can throw up, but win at home & draw away is the yardstick for all promotion winning teams, so that’s a positive if nothing else. Other positives would be still having Robinson in goal, …
