The team at the bottom of the Premier League at Christmas always goes down (apart from West Brom in 2005, but let’s not let facts get in the way of a good argument).
So what are the chances of Rovers bucking the trend? 50/50 according to new assistant manager, Eric Black (no relation).
With sixteen games left, it’s probably a bit to early to start making bold predictions but (and I can’t believe I’m about to write this) Rovers will survive – just.
A quick study of the bottom five’s remaining fixtures gave me …

Rovers 3 Fulham 1. With ten men. Hands up everyone who predicted that? I thought not.

One swallow doesn’t make a summer though and Rovers are still in deep trouble. Despite Steve Kean claiming the club couldn’t afford any messing around in the January transfer window, there’s been no signings so far.

He also insisted, prior to the window opening, he’d spoken to Venky’s about “getting the defenders we need”, so the fact we’ve bid for two forwards is a little worrying. The fact those forwards are Andy Johnson and a guy from France who hasn’t started a league game …

Comments on Blackburn Rovers stories following the Jerome Anderson interview with Sky Sports, have been frozen on the Lancashire Telegraph website after the paper received a letter from Mr Anderson’s solicitors.
Their statement reads as follows: “The Lancashire Telegraph will continue to allow fair and even robust comments on this subject acknowledging the depth of feeling of supporters and their right to express their opinions as long as these comments are lawful and obey our house rules. But we refuse to accept defamatory and unproven accusations of criminal or other wrongful activity which break the …

“Are there things going on that we’re not aware of? Are there groups of people who say they are supporters, but who really don’t want Venky’s to succeed for whatever reason, and don’t want the manager to succeed?”
Those are the words of Jerome Anderson – football agent and now seemingly a self-appointed authority on Blackburn Rovers FC.
Appearing on Sky Sports News earlier today he went on to say, “With normal fans, all you want to do is support your manager and team. What I think the world of football can’t understand is where …

Recently, Blackburn Rovers fans have been the subject of attention in the national media and we as a body feel that our situation has been misrepresented and that our stance has been grossly misunderstood. The major representative websites of Blackburn Rovers fans have combined to clarify our stance with regard to our current plight in the statement below.
Blackburn Rovers fans are not an unrealistically ambitious, over-expecting group of supporters and are not noted by any means for their militance. The large majority would generally be content with a mid-table finish …

“The aim of the protests, as from the start, will be about the removal of Steve Kean as first-team manager, Venky’s as owners of the club and now the removal of the board of directors. The intensity of the protest will increase substantially. As Blackburn Rovers fans we have no choice but to try to ensure we preserve the legacy left by the late Jack Walker. While we appreciate that this era is in the past, the failure by Venky’s and the current board of directors to build on his …

The game’s up for Blackburn Rovers.
Since the start of the Premier League in 1992 just one team have avoided relegation – West Brom in 2005 – having been bottom at Christmas.
Even if Venky’s finally put Steve Kean out of his misery you need only take a look at Rovers’ remaining fixtures to see the size of the task awaiting his potential replacement.
Home: Stoke, Fulham, Newcastle, QPR, Villa, Sunderland, Man Utd, Liverpool, Norwich, Wigan
Away: Liverpool, Man Utd, Everton, Arsenal, Man City, Wolves, Bolton, WBA, Swansea, Spurs, Chelsea
Based on the well-worn theory …

The nightmare must surely soon be over. Steve Kean’s sacking has to be imminent. But who should replace him?
Alan Shearer? Still a legend in the eyes of some but the feeling remains he’ll never really make a manager. Didn’t exactly pull up any trees in a short stint with Newcastle and his recent comments about giving Kean more time haven’t gone down well with the fans.
Mark Hughes? Did a great job last time around and first choice for many. Left a sour taste when he jumped ship when City came calling. Would he use Rovers as stepping …

The worst team I’ve ever seen in a blue and white shirt.
That’s how I described today to my better half.
I’ve seen some bad stuff down the years at Ewood.
But today really does take the biscuit.
Pedersen at left back? Hanley at right back? Really?
I know what – let’s bring Goodwillie on. In the history of the Premier League has there been a player who’s ever looked more unfit than him?
Jason Roberts? We need a goal. Let’s bring on our non-scoring saviour then.
There can be no more excuses. No more putting a …

Forty two matches – eleven wins. That’s Steve Kean’s record in all competitions as Blackburn Rovers manager.
Which begs the obvious question – how’s he still in a job?
Rovers’ owners Venky’s have stayed loyal to Kean far longer than his record suggests he deserves.
The club has had some unpopular managers down the years – Paul Ince and Brian Kidd immediately spring to mind – but Kean tops the lot.
There have been some positives – the development of Junior Hoilett, Yakubu’s goals, a desire to play prettier football – but we’re in …
